About Us

Who We Are

Who We Are

---Building Resilience. Advancing Justice. Empowering People.---

Coastal Development Partnership (CDP) is a national non-governmental organization and a trusted partner for justice-centered, people-led sustainable development. In 1997, CDP emerged from the saline, waterlogged coastal fields as a rising tide of people-powered change—a direct response to the top-down development disaster of the Khulna-Jessore Drainage Rehabilitation Project (KJDRP), which drowned farmlands and uprooted lives.

Registered with the RJSC (1999) and the NGOAB (2002), CDP now works at the intersection of climate justice, inclusive governance, and community empowerment. Its work connects grassroots realities with national and global policy transformation, blending activism, campaigns, research, and advocacy.

Over the years, CDP has grown into a recognized development actor, a collective force amplifying local wisdom, resisting exploitation, and envisioning a just, people-led development future.

Our Strategic Position

Our Strategic Position

As an institution, CDP sustains a rare equilibrium of autonomy and accountability, maintaining critical independence while engaging with global actors.. Its long-standing dialectical relationship with donors —being both funded by and critical of the global aid system—defines CDP’s uniqueness as a political actor within development, not merely an implementing organization.

CDP is not a conventional NGO—it is a challenger of systemic inequality, a people’s advocate, a network builder, and a justice platform. Bridging the local people and the global power, CDP stands as both a grassroots mobilizer and a high-level advocate

Grounded in justice, equity, ecological integrity, and human security, CDP repositions communities as architects of their own futures, reclaiming agency within climate and development governance.

Our Compass

Our Compass

Vision: A just, inclusive, and progressive society where dignity, rights, and ecological harmony guide every step.

Mission: Strengthen marginalized communities, grassroots leaders, NGOs & CSOs to challenge injustice, claim rights, and lead transformation.

Goal:  Empower people across Bangladesh to defend human rights, advance justice, and build sustainable futures.

Our compass points toward justice, dignity, and sustainability—driven by the people.

Our Values

Our Values

Our values are our backbone—shaping every decision, alliance, and action we take.

  1. Equity & Justice → Every step must advance fairness and rights.
  2. Empowerment & Dignity → Communities are leaders, not beneficiaries.
  3. Solidarity & Human Security → We stand with people, not projects.
  4. Integrity & Accountability → Transparency and ethics guide our work.
  5. Ecological Responsibility → Nature’s limits define sustainable choices.
  6. Peaceful Resistance → Nonviolent advocacy drives systemic change.

Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy

True transformation begins when communities reclaim the authority to define their own futures, and CDP’s philosophy is rooted in this conviction—linking integrity with innovation to ensure that resilience today never undermines human security tomorrow. We treat values as method, not ornament, operationalizing them through an approach that unites people, systems, and principles into a coherent practice of change.

At the heart of our philosophy:

  • Power must flow upward, rooted in people’s truths.
  • Communities produce theory—they are not data points.
  • Funding is a relationship, not a transaction.

For CDP, technology must liberate rather than control, solidarity is lived in action rather than words, and development is a collective journey toward justice and equity.
