Founder
Date of Birth: 1954-10-06Ashraf-ul-Alam Tutu was more than a founder—he was a freedom fighter, a visionary, and a relentless advocate for justice. From the frontlines of Bangladesh’s Liberation War to the grassroots movements for land rights, biodiversity, and food sovereignty, Tutu dedicated his life to empowering communities and protecting the Southwest Coastal Region. In 1997, he established CDP to carry forward this mission. His leadership shaped national and international networks, challenged unjust development practices, and amplified the voices of the marginalized. His work monitoring ADB projects and defending the Sundarbans remains foundational to CDP’s approach today. Though Tutu passed away in 2008, his spirit lives on in every campaign, every training, and every community we serve. 👉 His life reminds us: justice is not theory—it is living commitment. Continue the Legacy. Honor the vision. Empower the future. Your support helps us carry forward the legacy of our founder—championing justice, uplifting communities, and building resilience.
