The book Countdown to Copenhagen – Time for Climate Justice by the Coastal Development Partnership (CDP), Bangladesh, underscores the urgent need for fair and ambitious global action on climate change. It highlights how vulnerable nations like Bangladesh, despite contributing little to greenhouse gas emissions, face severe social, economic, and human rights impacts from global warming. The text frames the Copenhagen climate summit as a critical moment for industrialized countries to take responsibility for historical emissions and commit to binding agreements under the UNFCCC. It calls for equitable solutions such as financial support, technology transfer, and capacity building to help developing nations adapt and transition sustainably. Above all, the book positions climate change as a justice issue, stressing that survival, dignity, and solidarity must guide international negotiations.
